Hemorrhoids (Piles)
SYMPTOMS. If hemorrhoids are outside the rectum there may be mild itching
and some discomfort during defecation. If they are inside the rectum there
may be bleeding, painful defecation and rectal fullness.
CAUSES. They are enlarged varicose veins that are located in the rectal
area. The enlarged veins may be caused by chronic coughing or sneezing,
abdominal tumors, constipation and straining at stool, obesity or pregnancy.
TREATMENT. Medicated ointment or suppositories may be prescribed.
.Heat applications, cold compress and sitting in a warm bath may help.
.If hemorrhoids are severe surgery may be required.
